Cultural Unity Day 2019
Anei  matau, no nga hae e wha hei tauira.
Here we all are from the four winds, an example.
~Words from the last line of our school pepha~
We chose and coloured flags to help us reperesent our chosen culture.

We thought about being proud of who we are and kind and caring towards everyone.
We had an amazing buffet of a shared lunch where we could try lots of new food.
Thank you to all of you that brought a long a plate to share.

Water Safety Week 2

Week 2 Water Safety was all about wearing life jackets, staying afloat and moving in the water towards safety.

The children learnt of throw objects to a buddy to help rescue them.
They learnt  how to stay huddled in a group and  to put the smallest person in the middle.

They learnt how to pull themselves along
 a rope whilst floating .
They used flutterboards to make the water move like a river
and everyone had a go at floating down it on their back.

They practised flaoting on their backs for extended periods of time.

Nature News

This week Tom brought in a dragonfly for news and this sparked a great deal of interest and made for great writing.

It also started a  trend ...other children started to bring in very interesting items.  We had  a  small comfy nest, a strong fallow deer antler, a shiny smooth ram's horn and a translucent amber crystal.

Thank you to everyone who shared their fascinating items with our class.
