Stardome Trip

This week Room 11 visited the Stardome to learn more about Space.
We traveled on a bus from school which we all thought was lots of fun.

When we arrived we went into a special classroom. We learned that the sun is actually really big. It only looks small to us because it is so far away. The sun is at the centre of our Solar System but it is not the biggest star. The biggest stars are blue and they are the hottest stars. We found out that Earth turns and when it faces towards the Sun it is daytime and when it faces away from the Sun it is nighttime.

Next we went and watched a movie on the roof! We saw the night sky above Auckland and learned about constellations. The movie was all about a dog who went into space. It was really cool.

What an interesting trip we had!

After that, we explored the museum section of the Stardome. We had to answer questions on an i-pad. We really liked the orange spacesuit which is called a pumpkin suit and the lego models of rockets and space stations.
