Native Bird Week

Ms Best, who is a Park Ranger at Arataki Forest Park, came to our school and talked to us about the native birds. She told us  and how they help to spread the trees by eating berries and moving pollen around.

Our class focused our learning about the takahe.  We learned lots of facts about them. Takahe were nearly extinct but a great conservation programme has seen lots of them being released back into their natural habitat .

  1. It sounds like you had a great Green Week Room 11 - ka pai!
Amazing fact: kiwi are the only birds with nostrils at the end of their long beaks!
